  • ICRC mission in Bamako

  • Improving living conditions for detainees

    The ICRC visits over 3,000 detainees in 11 permanent places of detention in southern Mali, as well as a group of transitory places of detention. It provides support to Malian prison authorities, covering health, nutrition, food, water and hygiene.

    • at the regional hospital in Gao, patients receive urgent treatment thanks to ICRC support;
    • between April and October 2012, there have been over 11,900 consultations, including treating more than 100 weapon-wounded patients, and 110 births by caesarean section.
  • Health assistance in northern Mali

    • the ICRC helps under-resourced health services in northern Mali deliver adequate preventive, ante/post-natal and curative care;
    • over 2,250 consultations, including 672 antenatal consultations and 120 births.
  • Health assistance in northern Niger

    • the ICRC helps under-resourced health services in northern Niger deliver adequate preventive, ante/post-natal and curative care;
    • over 4,400 consultations, including 90 antenatal consultations and 60 births.
  • Niamey national hospital

    With ICRC support, disabled people receive quality limb-fitting and physiotherapy services.
  • Veterinary assistance in Agadez region

    The ICRC assists pastoralists with veterinary services, including vaccinations, which boost livestock health and productivity.
  • Food assistance in Tombouctou, Kidal and Gao regions

    The ICRC is distributing food to 360,000 beneficiaries in the three regions. For a period of four months, each family receives rice, beans, cooking oil and iodized salt.
  • Food assistance in Mopti region

    The ICRC is distributing food to 60,000 beneficiaries in the Mopti region. For a period of four months, each family receives rice, beans, cooking oil and iodized salt.
